GUY PEPPIN

'Sale' is a wonderfully constructed collage. Collage being specific to Guy's current preferred medium of choice. Guy works with found cartoon images from the 1950s where the plot dealt with heroin addiction in America.

MARK HETHERINGTON

'Coconuts and cocaine' is a hugely popular work... With its bold and bright colors, this work is a good kick off for the holiday season. Not that we are going to be drug induced or anything...

HEROIN'E'

WHERE IS IT ?

EAST SYDNEY DOCTORS IS LOCATED AT 102 Burton Street, East Sydney.

PHOTOS FROM THE NIGHT!

DECLAN O'DOHERTY

Declan is a very young man indeed. He comes from a family of artists and musicians. With his Irish ancestor humor, Declan is bound to go far and wild places.

ROSE VICKERS

Rose is one of my best friends. She is so talented in many different areas, from law to writing to fashion designing to an international modeling career, Rose is also a brilliant drawer and art maker. She really just needs to work out which one she will focus on... Perhaps all ? She is truly a very gifted girl.

COEN YOUNG

Coen spent some time in Shanghai, where he was inspired by the restless animals he witnessed cooped up in the Shanghai zoo. Coen is young and energetic; a real charmer, with his brush, vibrant color and intense mark making.

ADAM CULLEN - THE NURSE PAINTING

It took a long and involved waiting period to be assured Adam would paint this picture of this horrific nurse. Not only did the pilgrims prolong the event, but the whole thing was extremely last minute and stressful yet enormously fun!
She really is gruesome, this one... very 'let the blood run free', like the wicked sister from the 80s Aussie comedy show.
Great fun and worth it!
Adam Cullen is represented by the Kaliman Gallery, located at 56 Sutherland Street, Paddington, NSW 2021 Sydney, AUSTRALIA

JOSH HONEYMAN

Josh Honeyman paints like he is painting with honey... literally! He has a lovely sensual use of paint, an interesting control of his mediums and varies his use of materials. He transforms his women into mysteriously awkward and timid subjects yet overtly sexual at the same time. He taps extremely well into female sexuality and brings out the dark and tormented soul in many of us females yet throws in glitz and Marilynesque stature.

NICK COLLERSON

Nick is a second year painting student at the National Art School. I had asked Nick to be involved in the show over the holidays. He did not get around to painting a work specifically for the show and on the day of hanging I had seen some of his still life works were impressive. He had painted numerous bottles of empty glass jars. I thought they seemed quite sterile and needed some bloodying - up. I suggested he put blood in one of them, in keeping with the theme of the show. The painting is small, but impressive and filled with hope and excitement of filling empty bottles with vibrancy and amusement. I took the painting that day to the DRs, stained with his blood red splatters of paint.

DAVID GRIGGS

David Griggs is represented by Kaliman gallery in Sydney, Australia. Griggs recently made a huge mark at the Melbourne Art Fair with an impressive vibrant tent, constructed in the Philippines.
This vibrant painting, 'THC and love of politicians', was painted during the time of when he painted his body of work for his 2008 solo show show at Kaliman gallery, 'All I want is peace in the Middle East a blow job and a free T-shirt'.
Kaliman Gallery is located at 56 Sutherland Street, Paddington, NSW 2021 Sydney, AUSTRALIA

JUMAADI

Jumaadi is an Indonesian artist based in Sydney and has just completed his masters degree at the National Art School. Jumaadi was in the recent Blake Prize with whimsical drawings of lakes and gods and rivers. His work here is primarily dealing with the bloodline and his relationship with ancestors. He made a series of these water color drawings after his fathers death. Jumaadi is represented by Legge Gallery.

GUY PEPPIN

Guy Peppin's delicate, yet tactile work plays on the themes of pill popping.

MY WORK- WITH THE CULLEN TOUCH! LET THE BLOOD RUN FREE

This is a piece specifically for this show, the final closing marks on the canvas were made in a raucous evening with ADAM CULLEN.
The doctor is running, for help, as he can not rely on himself or his knowledge anymore. He must seeks God's guidance.

ANDREW HOPKINS

Andrew Hopkin's imaginative and colorful mind fields, are depictions of hospital scenes, maps of when he cut his finger pouring cocktails at his work to the journey he took to the hospital to get it stitched back up. You can even make some nuns out in the street he spotted on his bloody journey to the docs. Andrew is a very bright young emerging artist who moves quickly with his lustrous use of paint. Look out for Andrew's solo show, which is coming up next month. This boy is one to watch.

LET THE BLOOD RUN FREE

The first art show at East Sydney Doctors was a huge success, with the wonderfully amusing Adam Cullen graffiting the art tunnel with his brilliant fatty and skinny jokes. Adam even managed to get Doctor David and Doctor Robert to put some antisceptic ointment on his finger, after having burnt it, shooting wild beasts.
